About us

Candy Free Kids group is one of over 350 Diabetes UK voluntary groups situated throughout the UK.  We are a small support group run by parents of children with Type 1 Diabetes, who give their time freely and unreservedly.  Throughout the year we run events to bring the children together, so they can meet up and make friends with other Type 1 Diabetic children.  This encourages the children to deal with their condition and realise that they are not “different” from other children because they have to test their blood glucose levels and inject insulin to be able to survive.

Our goal is to provide support and educate children living with diabetes, as well as their family, friends and anyone else who is interested in knowing more about diabetes.

We encourage those interested to attend our events which are a welcoming and social environment for people to discuss diabetes and its effects. Support and companionship are some of the simplest yet most important aspects of living with diabetes - this is why our group exists and we want to help in any way that we can.
